IDEALINGSARCHITECTURE
IDEAL [I]NGINEERED LIVING SPACES.
About
We are a licenced architectural studio specialised in Passive House design, passionate to offer a sustainable living.
We provide Passive House expertise to achieve our clients’ ideal living spaces – comfortable all year around, healthy and environmentally friendly.
“Passive House is the world’s leading standard in energy efficient construction. The Passive House Standard stands for quality, comfort and energy efficiency.” – iPHA
"Our aim is to design and realise buildings with great thermal performance, buildings that provide more comfort and less energy wastage. No more cold and drafty homes in winter and overheated houses in summer. No more waste of heating and cooling energy due to insufficiently planned and installed building envelopes. More comfort throughout the year, regardless of the external climate situation."
– Timo Bleeker, Director Idealings Architecture

End to End Architecture
We provide end to end architectural services from project inception to handover tailored to your needs and based on Passive House standards.
01
Planning
We break the seemingly complex undertaking of building a house down to comprehensible packages and lead you through the planning phases and associated decision making.
02
Authorities
We coordinate the application documents such as development approval or building permit with the authorities and other involved parties.
03
Construction
We undertake contract administration during the construction period, ensuring the work is done in accordance to the documentation and generally to the applicable standards and regulations.
Passive House Consultancy
We provide Passive House consultancy for your existing building or existing design by assessing their energy efficiency and advising on improvement solutions where necessary.
01
Assess
Finding starting parameters for Passive House conformity - The existing building or provided design will be assessed on its energy performance.
02
Improve
Performance Improvement Study -
A performance improvement study is undertaken. Options are provided showing the proposal and its impact on the thermal performance.
03
Achieve
Detail Documentation - Key details to achieve Passive House principles are documented in addition to the provided planning set.
04
Certify
Coordination of Passive House certification - Certifying a project to Passive House standard requires the involvement of a Passive House consultant and independent certifier.
Airtightness Testing
We undertake airtightness testing using a blower door to find potential air leaks in the building envelope. Airtightness avoids drafts, which is unwanted ventilation affecting the interior temperature and air quality.
01
Intermediate Testing
To achieve an airtight building, we strongly suggest undertaking a test during construction at around "lock-up" stage to gauge performance of the in-progress building. Why that early? Because at this stage it is easier to rectify defects and air leaks should some be found. When finishes have been applied, the rectification usually becomes a more involving task.
02
Final Testing
The final built result is tested to examine the sealing performance of the completed building. This test is mandatory for Passive House certification.
The airtightness testing is undertaken to the ATTMA standard, in line with the Passive House Institute’s regulations.
Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) Commissioning
We balance and commission your Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) system to enable optimized fresh air distribution evenly throughout the building, preventing heat or cold spots and providing more comfort.
At overall completion of the building, the HRV commissioning and air-flow balancing is undertaken.
Balancing the fresh air and exhaust outlets is an integral part of maintaining the HRV unit’s heat recovery efficiency.
When the HRV system is disbalanced, the air encapsulated heat (or coolness) gets less well transferred, respectively less heat (or coolness) will be ‘recycled’, and more active heating or cooling would need to be applied to keep the internal comfort.
A disbalanced HRV can also lead to hot or cold spots within the house lowering the comfort.
The commissioning is undertaken to the Passive House standards outlined by the Passive House Institute.
Presentations
We provide educational workshops and presentations to explain Passive House standards, its benefits and synergies between Passive House and other low-energy building methods.
